Study: Babies use lip-reading when learning to talk
Babies at about 6 months of age start to read lips while people talk to them, according to a study in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. Researchers said that babies shift back to the intent eye gaze of early infancy by their first year, but they continue to read lips when they hear foreign languages spoken.
