Have UnitedHealthcare? You Still Have Options for Care in Southwest Florida

If you have UnitedHealthcare insurance, you may have recently heard some concerning news about healthcare coverage in Southwest Florida.

The good news? You still have options.

Lee Health has announced that, beginning January 1, 2027, its hospitals and physicians will be out-of-network for certain UnitedHealthcare plans, including employer-based, individual and Medicare Advantage plans. That news has understandably left many local patients wondering: “Where can I go for care if my doctor no longer accepts my UnitedHealthcare plan?”

At Physicians’ Primary Care, we continue to accept select UnitedHealthcare plans, including qualifying commercial and Medicare Advantage plans.

And there’s an important distinction to know:

Physicians’ Primary Care is not part of Lee Health. We are an independent, physician-owned medical practice serving families throughout Southwest Florida.

So if you’ve been told that your current doctor is no longer accepting your UnitedHealthcare plan, you may not need to change insurance to continue receiving the care you need.

You may simply need a new doctor.
